I am growNman 133 Breaking the System

John David Lewis Season 48 Episode 133

The American political system is fracturing before our eyes, exposing the flaws of governance based on documents written centuries ago by men who lacked our modern knowledge and understanding. When we elevate loyalty to the past above progress in the present, we create the conditions for our own suffering.

Throughout this raw, unfiltered conversation, we explore how America's arrested development manifests in our voting patterns, often rejecting qualified candidates to maintain traditional power structures. There's something profoundly troubling about our collective resistance to change, as if moving away from outdated ideologies represents a cultural defeat rather than necessary evolution. The consequences are now unavoidable as budget cuts and removal of federal funds directly impact the very people who voted against their own interests.

What's the path forward? Perhaps we need practical limits like age restrictions for high-stress leadership positions. More importantly, we need collective willingness to learn—whether quickly, slowly, or painfully—recognizing when our allegiance to outdated ideas causes unnecessary suffering. The discomfort many experience now could catalyze better future decisions. Until we're ready to update our founding principles, we'll continue struggling with a framework never designed for our complex reality. The system breaking may ultimately be necessary for genuine transformation.

Ready to break free from outdated thinking? Listen now and join the conversation about what it means to grow beyond inherited limitations and make choices that truly serve our collective future.

Speaker 1:

what up, though, and welcome back to I'm growing man shaman john d in the building. Um, I know I always get on here. I always start with a uh Like I don't know where I want to go with what I want to talk about. At some point, I'm going to remove that and I'm going to sound a little more polished. I feel like at this point, I should sound like but you know what I don't, because I know the information that I have is valuable and I'm not looking for likes because of because I'm not as polished. It'll come in due time. I just know that the information that I'm getting, I wish I would have gotten some of it. You know there are things right now that are affecting a lot of people in the United States, with budget cuts and federal funds being removed, and a lot of people are being impacted by it. It made me start thinking. You know.

Speaker 1:

For years that I remember people said that the system needed to be broken, and I think at this point, it's obvious that the system is broken because the person that we have in office was voted by the American people, regardless if you say he cheated or he did this, or that he did it under the same ideas that America's built off of, under the same ideas that America's built off of. So to me, it's crazy that we have this loyalty to a document that was written by men that could not have been smarter than the men of today. You know why? Because at that time they didn't have information like we have information. I don't even care about the smartest person at that time, no matter what he did. The smartest person at this time has so much more information and is a lot more dedicated to that craft. So the idea that we're holding on to this document that should have been rewritten whenever the quote unquote majority people decided that we were real people, like for real, like it could be back in, like it could be, it could play in the background, but at the end of the day, all of it needs to be written and rewritten.

Speaker 1:

And you know, my son told me he said that we had a president at one time that said that so that United States could become ideal, for you know like what a country should look like, that all of the information should be rewritten like every 20 years or something like that. And if you think about it, why wouldn't we do something like that? We are following information of men. Now I don't want you guys to think that I'm saying that they're stupid or they're illiterate or anything like that. I know there are some brilliant men back then, right, but it just makes me feel like we have a reason to not redo this document because we think it's not being loyal. And if that's the case, then let's say it, say that you really like the idea that black people are what was it? Two thirds of a man? If that's the case, so be it that we probably should redo this document.

Speaker 1:

And if we're going to be a country that's built off of what it was, originally, well, I guess we can't even say what it was originally started out, because there's so many versions of that story. But, being that we're a product of it, I can see that greed, the thirst for money, status, popularity will distract so many people, and I feel like people that are benefiting the most from this destruction. Unfortunately, it's the people in the future not necessarily the far future, but like literally in the next five to 10 years because I just feel like they're going to break the system and I don't think that was the intent. You know, I can't say that it wasn't, but he did say when I say he, I'm talking about the president the president did say that he knew all of the rules. He knew it because he knew how to get to that point than it appeared, because I believe that his kids didn't even flip so they could actually vote, because they had no idea that their father could get that far. So just think about that the American people decided to vote in a man single-handedly, destroying the system that voted him in. Now there are going to be a lot of people that don't benefit from this, and I do understand that, and I can't say that my household is not one of them.

Speaker 1:

But when I look at things, I just think about how many people are being impacted. And if you're not working on something, you're probably getting work, and that's what's happening. You're probably getting work. That's what's happening. Until we can come up with a way to articulate to the majority of people who can vote people in like this, to show them that it's probably not in their best interest to do things like that, we'll always be caught up in the 1700s. I know that's probably a far stretch, but there are people that just you know. Keep telling people too. I don't keep telling people.

Speaker 1:

I keep thinking in my mind America, america voted in this man against the most qualified presidential candidate ever because it was a woman. It was so much easier for the ignorance of america to not vote in what was in the best interest of the country, because it's almost with arrested development. They're really thinking they're holding on to some type of loyalty and it's just hurting them. Not just hurting them, but the majority of them are being hurt, like the videos that I see that are being impacted by them voting the president in. It's alarming and I'm not laughing at your situation, but I am laughing at I can't believe that people voted him in and it's like they're surprised. That's why I'm like are they getting different signals? Are they getting different messages? Because you gotta be out your rabbit mind to think that he was trying to help you like, for real. Like I can't believe the capitalistic system is on social media, on display, like two kids. You know they, they have they like have so much influence.

Speaker 1:

And I live in this country that we say is the best in the world. I guess it's our relative. I'm appreciative that I was raised in this country because I've had the opportunity to see people make decisions as an as an adult, that's not in their best interest. On purpose, you know, I was watching this one video. It was a group of white folks and the man was, like America's, too scared to admit that they did not want to vote for a woman. Instead, they said they would. Just they voted for the economy.

Speaker 1:

And it's crazy because, like some people, was really fighting for it. You know, this part of American history is going to be kind of interesting in the years to come Because it's like we have this procedure in our constitution and he's just overriding any and everything Constitution. And he's just overriding any and everything. But for some reason, the past presidents, even though they had their own agenda, they played by a certain set of rules I guess unwritten rules and he is really taking advantage of that. So unless we change the Constitution and give some type of power where this cannot happen again, it will happen again and it will happen more frequent.

Speaker 1:

Like I just think about how many people really decided to say you know what? I want to become president and I will say this, you know, and I want to give president and I will say this, you know, and I want to give him credit. I know it's crazy, but I don't know what kind of shoes he's had, but he became a billionaire. Right, he was like well, his father was a millionaire, okay, so I know people that were millionaires and they did not become billionaires and and look he did. He lied, stole. He was not genuine, but he was playing the game that he was told how to play.

Speaker 1:

She lost. That's when I knew. I didn't know anything, because in my head I'm like how can you not vote the most qualified candidate ever versus this guy who's known to lie, cheat, steal and treat people inappropriately? That just shows you that the majority of the country are caught in the 1700s, still Arrested development. Like I didn't like, check this out. What is the worst that Hillary Clinton could have done to us? For real, for real, I want to know, like, what was her agenda? Like President Trump's agenda has been what? Like I would like to know the people that are loyal to that idea still. Are they being impacted by his decisions? And, if they are, are they still loyal? Like you know, he's doing this for the benefit, like, is it? Like? Is it worth your dime? That I don't know, but I'm just gonna't gonna say pray, but that's crazy, because the idea that one should like.

Speaker 1:

We put him in office and then this is what's, this is what's the wildest. We put him in office and, since we're so distracted by money, he befriended a South African who was very smart, but you know, he has his challenges and we put them together. It was like we was like on purpose and now it's been a falling out because of whatever reasons and it's like a soap opera. I didn't even think it could get worse than the first term, but this term is wild and this is so crazy. We voted in a really old man into office. That's how scared of like the idea that we can't change, because I think if they give up the old white man image, they feel like they lost or something, because there is nobody can tell me that he's in his right mind all the time. He is a very old man and you know what's so crazy. This is what blows my mind. They said that is like really the the most difficult job in the world and he got to do two terms and he's oh, that's wild like we voted in somebody to do it again over two qualified women.

Speaker 1:

And I'll say this y'all can say what y'all want. Miss harris was better than look, check this out. What was she gonna do to hurt the country? Like these people that we're voting in? We have to think about what's the intent. You know what I'm saying? Like, I think his track record says that we were not supposed to give him another opportunity, and we did, and we're here, and what do you do about it? And I can't even believe. I want you to check this out.

Speaker 1:

I do not normally talk about things I can't control, but, like I said, these things I can't control are starting to affect. Like things is just way too close, and I think it's time for us to address the people who are responsible and I'm not saying any violence or anything, but so that in the future that we have to make better decisions of who we put to represent us. And I don't understand that part yet. I've been on this earth nearly 50 years and I'm trying to figure out. Why is the separation so strong? It's like the force is that strong where we can't realize that we can do it together, but we can do it better together.

Speaker 1:

This separation, whatever, uh, what is it idea you follow? There's one that's probably better than the ones you have. You have to look for it, though, but if you're holding on to these old ideas and it's preventing you from growing, you're hurting yourself, and you know who you're hurting the most your family. Does it prevent your family really from really growing? Because, depending on how influential you are, they could be holding on to bad ideas. And I always thought, like, as you get older, you're supposed to be, like, become more enlightened, but you have to want to do it on purpose, or you think you can just walk into it. I was walking down the street one day and then all of a sudden I was like you know what? I'm going to start reading more. And they just did it. And you know what, if we read more we had conversations with other people we would learn that we all have our own story to tell.

Speaker 1:

But unless our interaction increases, where we find, like, ways to learn from each other, we'll just keep finding ways to separate, and right now, the separation is holding on the old ideas, and the person that is in office is such an old guy Like like, honestly, I could see if he was a fit. Oh man, he looked bad. He looked bad in the first one, and I just don't understand how he might be a bot, because there there is very difficult for one to do that job. And at that age, like, why nobody talking about his diet? Because it seemed I guess he still he's. His overall view looks run down and up and I don't think anybody wants to do that. But why would we put him in that position? When I say we, I'm talking about americans. You know, like I accept the fact that the americans that voted him in office are still americans and some of them are going to have some hard times because of that decision.

Speaker 1:

I'm not going to pray for you, but I am going to hope that you understand that the decisions you make it affects everybody and if you hold on to bad ideas, learning like everybody learns right, you can learn quickly, you can learn slowly. You can learn. Pain learns right, you can learn quickly, you can learn slowly. You can learn painfully. You can learn like the light bulb went off and you just got it. But at the end of the day, nobody wants to go through the, the financial pain and have to create anxiety and depression because of who you voted for. Like that's like I want know you're like. You're like single-handedly responsible for your discomfort in life. Going on right now.

Speaker 1:

Now, of course, you're responsible for other people, like you know the Democrats or anybody else who didn't want Trump. You're responsible for them. They feel that, but the pain that you're feeling is way worse because you did it. That's got to be a different feeling that you're responsible for this. It's like how did he do this? To me it wasn't even about color, it wasn't about, like helping the United States, it wasn't. I don't even know what your reason was for you voting him in. But I hope that pain or that discomfort that you have leads you to some enlightenment so you can make better decisions going forward, because it's wild that we had to go through this.

Speaker 1:

You know I keep telling people. Well, I know I keep saying I keep telling people. I, I know I keep saying I keep telling people. I know the system had to break and I think that's what's happening. So we got a few more years before we figure it out. And then I don't even know who we're looking at. But I tell you this we need to put an age limit and I don't care like you could be an advisor, you can be a consultant, but to run the country is unacceptable. To be at that age running the country looking like that, especially that job like is high stress. I don't know man. Shame, shame, know your name. Y'all. Make today better than yesterday. Don't worry about anything you can't control. G-a-t-a. Get after that action or that action will get after you. Be grand on purpose name Y'all. Make today better than yesterday. Don't worry about anything you can't control. G-a-t-a. Get after that action or that action will get after you. Be grand on purpose.
